Wildlands Restoration Volunteers

Bev Gholson

Donor Profile

Bev Gholson was among the first to raise money for WRV through Colorado Mountain Club’s Boulder Group. And she helped write the information on the WRV website about leaving WRV money in a will or trust. So it is perfectly consistent with her character that she has listed WRV as a beneficiary of one of her accounts. But she has a sense of humor about these serious topics; she claims that the money designated for WRV in her estate plans “will be gone before you ever see it! I plan to bounce my last check!”

Bev has been a passionate, loyal volunteer and donor to WRV throughout its existence. She has even served on its Board of Directors. But Bev’s environmental involvement started long before that, including both professional and volunteer roles. She started her career in environmental law in Georgia and served at the Peregrine Fund in Idaho. She now volunteers to help establish trails in Boulder County and serves as a Crew Leader, Medic, and Instructor with WRV. “I originally came to it from a legal policy standpoint, and it’s been really fun for me to learn the science and answer the question – what are these laws protecting?”

When asked what inspired her to care about the environment, she describes camping trips her father led while growing up near the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. When asked who inspired her giving nature, she recounts that her mother, a nurse, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the school, and the church. “In the South, whenever anything bad happened to anyone, you showed up at their door with food. That’s the way I was raised.”

Thank you, Bev, for your generosity, for caring about essential things like nature, and for directing your efforts and resources to preserve and restore it!
